Bucharest, lowest prices among 71 cities worldwide
Bucharest ranks 69th among 71 cities in a ranking based on the price level, except for rents. Zurich, Geneva and New York have the highest prices, whereas only Sofia and Kiev have lower prices than Bucharest, according to a study by Swiss bank UBS.
Istanbul, Doha or Lyon have an average price level, but closer to the expensive cities.
The ranking is made based on the relative cost of goods and services worldwide.If the ranking also considers the rents, then New York becomes the most expensive city, whereas Sofia is the cheapest city.
Based on gross salaries, Bucharest ranks 61st, between Budapest and Beijing. Zurich, Geneva, and Luxembourg rank first for this category.
The Romanian capital ranks 60th based on the purchasing power, after Bangkok, but before Sofia.
