Bucharest mayor: Irish band U2 will not perform in Romania this year

The famous Irish band U2 will not be coming to Bucharest this year to perform at the inauguration of the new National Stadium, said Bucharest mayor  Sorin Oprescu. He had previously said the City Hall has invited the band to perform in Bucharest for the inauguration of the new National Stadium, which should be ready this year. U2 cannot come to Bucharest as in the period when it was invited, the band will be in concert in South Africa and its stage can not be transported to Romania. Oprescu added that another famous band will perform in Bucharest on the new National Stadium, without giving additional information.

U2, which has not held any concert in Romania so far, is currently on the world tour "360°". This is a series of concerts with the highest grossing in history, having surpassed the record of USD 558 million held by the Rolling Stones.
