Bucharest metro operator rolls out new metro trains from CAF

The new metro trains Metrorex has purchased from Spanish CAF with some EUR 97 million will start running on the existing metro lines in Bucharest today, July 9, according to a statement of the company.

They will operate on Line 2 Pipera - Aurel Vlaicu - Aviatorilor - Victoriei 1 Square - Romana Square- Universitate - Unirii Square- Tineretului - Eroii Revolutiei - Constantin Brancoveanu - Sudului Square - Aparatorii Patriei - Dimitrie Leonida - Berceni.

Metrorex purchased a total of 16 trains from the Spanish company.The CAF train has six cars, a length of 113.6 meters, a width of 3.2 meters, and can carry a total of 1,200 passengers. The maximum speed is 80 km per hour.

The first four trains are made in Spain, and the next 12 are assembled at the Grivita workshops in Bucharest.

With the new trains, the old trains on the lines 1, 2 and 3 will be removed from circulation.
