Bucharest municipality to spend EUR 14 mln on more public toilets, some equipped with GPS
Bucharest could have EUR 14 million worth of public toilets equipped with GPS, if the capital city hall approves the budget for this project. Bucharest will be equipped with as many as 3,000 public toilets of different types: mobile ecological, automatic connected to the sewage system and to electricity, as well as toilets for the disabled.
The bid announcement, posted on the e-licitatie.ro website, also includes maintenance services for the 3,000 toilets that will be hired out. The contract will be awarded through an open bid, to the best financial offer, with the price weighting 51 percent, and technical background the rest.
The old contract expired in July. It was for renting, maintaining and locating some 680 public toilets, out of which 600 were ecologic, 30 for disabled people and 50 connected to sewage and electricity. The new contract would mainly increase the number of toilets connected to sewage and electricity, which was requested by the Lakes and Parks Administration.
The new toilets should have automated systems to open and close doors, to wash and disinfect themselves after each use, as well as an anti-vandalism system, and a safe button that opens the door even without electricity. During winter, toilets will be heated, and have a GPS system to transmit all the functioning parameters.
The deadline for offers for this bid is August 29.
