The football stadium National Arena in Bucharest can accommodate up to 25,000 victims after a disaster, whereas 12 school gyms in the capital can host about 4,500 people, said the Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu.
He added that the municipality has provided 12 schools with necessary equipment and materials for post-event emergency, namely blankets, generators, flashlights and stretchers, reports local Agerpres.
Within the same project, the City Hall will dig deep wells to provide independent sources of drinkable water.
