Bucharest subway flooded by damaged heating pipeline

12 April 2017

A damage to a major pipeline of the public heating distributor RADET has caused a massive hot water infiltration in the subway tunnel linking the Victoriei Square and Bucharest’s main train station Gara de Nord, subway operator Metrorex announced in a press release on Wednesday morning, April 12.

This incident has affected the subway traffic between the two important stations. The whole subway traffic was moved on a single track, which has led to longer waiting times for passengers using this metro line. The traffic was affected mainly between Stefan cel Mare and Gara de Nord subway stations.

“The Metrorex teams are making efforts to allow the return of subway traffic to normal conditions,” the company announced.
