Bucharest theater venue adds English subtitles to its performances
The Bucharest theater venue Apollo 111 is adding live English-language subtitles to its performances starting this May.
The first performance that will welcome an English-speaking audience is Psycho, a play based on Robert Bloch’s story made famous by Alfred Hitchcock’s film of the same name.
Psycho was adapted for stage by young director Iris Spiridon. The play stars Istvan Teglas as Norman Bates. He is performing alongside Vlad Bîrzanu, Ioana Mărcoiu, Andrei Radu and Ghighi Eftimie. The decor was designed by Sabina and Bianca Veșteman.
The play also features live music.
Apollo111 is located in the fully refurbished Universul Palace, close to the Cismigiu Park. It is the first theater in Bucharest that works in the off-Broadway system, meaning its shows play only for 6 to 8 weeks and every season it has a different artistic director, who selects a different theme. The first artistic director of Apollo111 is actor Bogdan Dumitrache and the first theme is theater-film.
Besides a theater hall, the venue includes a bar with a food menu and a large selection of wines.
The next Psycho performances will take place on May 4, 5 and 6. Tickets are available online at www.Apollo111.ro
