Bucharest under snow with 500 machines clearing roads, while code yellow turns orange elsewhere
Over 23,000 tonnes of anti freeze material and 500 snow removal machines are in action in the Bucharest municipality during the current code yellow for snow. The Romanian capital and the counties of Caraş-Severin, Mehedinţi, Gorj, Dolj, Olt, Vâlcea, Argeş, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Dâmboviţa, Prahova, Buzău, Ilfov, Călăraşi, Constanţa, Tulcea, Brăila, Galaţi, Vrancea, Bacău and Vaslui will be under a code yellow for snow and blizzard until Friday (today, January 25 ) at 20:00. It started raining in Bucharest last night (January 24 ), and the rain turned to snow this morning.
Elsewhere in Romania, the snow and the wind will increase and the code yellow has been upped to an orange warning for the second half of today (January 25 ). Currently, some national roads are closed in the Moldavian region of Romania, where over 30 villages are also affected by power outages.
