Bucharest’s Arc de Triomphe opens for Romania's National Day

The Romanian Arc de Triomphe (Arcul de Triumf  in Romanian) located next to Herastrau Park in Bucharest will be opened for visitors on December 1, December 3 and December 4, 2011, between 12:00 and 16:00. The entrance is free and visitors can see the monument’s upper terrace and exhibitions to be held inside the arch.

Bucharest’s Arc de Triomphe, a copy of the famous monument on the Champs Elysee in Paris,  is 27 meters high and located at the crossroads between Kiseleff and Constantin Prezan, Alexandru Averescu and Alexandru Constantinescu boulevards. It was built in 1922 and renovated in 1936. The monument commemorates Romania’s victory in the First World War. The official municipalities will only agree to open the arch to visitors for few days a year.
