Bucharest’s Henri Coanda airport, fourth in terms of air traffic

Bucharest’s Henri Coanda International Airport ranks fourth in the European ranking of airports that recorded the highest increase in air traffic in the first half of 2015. The ranking was made by Airports Council International – Europe, and Bucharest’s airport was included in the 5 -10 million passengers category.

The airports in Milan, Porto, and Glasgow occupy the first three places while the airport in Budapest ranks fifth.

In the group of airports that welcome more than 25 million passengers per year, the top five consists of Madrid, Istanbul Ataturk, London Gatwick, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. In the 10-25 million passengers category, Athens, London Stansted, and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen make the top three, followed by Dublin and Lisbon.

The airport in Sibiu, Romania, ranks second in the group of airports that welcome less than 5 million passengers per year while the one in Cluj ranks third in the same category.

The two airports in Bucharest, namely the Henri Coanda International Airport and the Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, recorded 4.2 million passengers in the first half of 2015, and more than 52,100 landings and takeoffs.
