CanPack Romania, the local subsidiary of Polish group CanPack, which produces aluminum cans for the beverages industry, has completed a EUR 50 million investment in expanding its factory in Bucharest.

The new production lines will allow the company to increase its output from 950 million cans per year to 1.55 billion cans per year. The factory will also increase its workforce from 163 to 250 employees.

“We firmly believe in the Romanian market’s potential, which reflects in a higher demand for modern and ecologic packaging,” said Herman Nicolaas Nusmeier, CEO of CanPack group.

CanPack produces aluminum cans for local beer producers such as Heineken, SABMiller, Bergenbier and Tuborg Romania. About 60% of its current production stays on the local market and the rest goes to export.
