The man, whom the Police identified as being from Bucharest, managed to get his car out of the sand with the help of other tourists. The Police managed to identify him later the same day, and gave him a fine of RON 10,000 (some EUR 2,100), local News.ro reported.

The driver violated the Emergency Ordinance OUG 19/2006, according to which driving a motor vehicle on a beach is not allowed in Romania.

Many young Romanians go to the seaside around May 1 to celebrate Labour Day. This year, eccentricity also found its way to the Black Sea shore region. For example, a helicopter landed in a crowded parking lot to deliver a group of party goers to a posh seaside club. Meanwhile, somebody ordered a EUR 100,000 champagne bottle.
