Carrefour promotes chief of finances to executive officer position in Romania
The former chief financial officer of French retailer Carrefour in Romania, Jean Baptiste Dernoncourt, has been appointed chief executive officer of the company. Dernoncourt replaces Melchior de Polignac, who left the helm of Carrefour in Romania several months ago.
Prior to joining Carrefour Romania as CFO in April 2012, Jean Baptiste Dernoncourt was Back Office Management & Controlling Director, Carrefour China South Territory (Guangzhou), and Director of Group performance analysis and Financial Controller with Carrefour. Prior to joining Carrefour, he was a senior auditor with Deloitte & Touch. He graduated ESCP Europe in 2004.
In his new position, Dernoncourt will report to Gerard Lavinay, executive director for Northern Europe.
Carrefour runs 154 units in Romania, out of which 25 hypermarkets, 75 supermarkets under the brand Market, 53 neighbourhood shops under the brand Express, and an online shopping site.
