Carrefour’s business in Romania, close to EUR 1 bln in first half
French retailer Carrefour reached a turnover of almost EUR 1 billion in Romania in the first half of this year, up by 8% compared to the same period of 2017.
The like-for-like sales, which reflect the sales evolution for the same number of stores, without taking into account the new openings in the last year, also increased by 5.3%, the second-highest growth rate after Argentina, according to the group’s financial report, quoted by Ziarul Financiar.
Carrefour currently operates some 330 stores locally and covers the widest range of formats, from hypermarkets (Carrefour), to supermarkets (Market), proximity stores (Express and Express Orange), rural stores (Contact) and the Supeco units, a mix of discounter and cash&carry store.
