Cash-for-Clunkers program re-starts in Romania, 17,000 electronic vouchers available for individuals
The 2014 Cash-for-Clunkers (Rabla) program recently started in Romania, and 17,000 electronic vouchers are available for individuals, according to the Minister of Environment, Attila Korodi.
“We already have 17,000 electronic vouchers prepared for individuals interested in the program,” said the minister.
The value of a ticket is RON 6,500 (around EUR 1,400). In addition to the scrapping bonus, each individual may also receive an eco-bonus of RON 500 (EUR 110) for the purchase of an environmentally friendly car.
Cars older than at least 8 years can join the program, and this is one of the changes introduced to the program this year. Prior to this, only vehicles older than 10 years were allowed in the program. Another change is that individuals who wish to receive an electronic voucher will directly address the manufacturers/ dealers validated in the program.
Cash-for-Clunkers is a governmental program aiming to replace old cars with new ones that are less polluting.
