American troops march across Romania on their way to international drill
An American convoy of 400 troops and 80 armored carriers will leave the American base in Romania’s South Eastern region of Dobrogea, and head for Cincu, near the Central Romanian city of Brasov, for an international drill.
The troops and vehicles that will form the so-called Cavalry March will pass through Harsova, Slobozia, Ploiesti, Sinaia, and Brasov, and then reach Cincu, to meet their Canadian, British and Romanian counterparts taking place in the drill. The international military exercise will take place between May 15 and June 6.
On its way throughout Romania on May 13 and 14, the convoy will be divided into several groups, to avoid traffic jams. However, some temporary traffic restrictions will apply on their route.
The cavalry will reach the city of Ploiesti on Wednesday, May 13, when a welcome event will be held at the Shopping City Ploiesti mall between 15,30 and 19,00 hours. The public is invited to interact with the US troops, who will also play a basketball match against a local highschool team.
The next day, the troops will reach the city of Sinaia in the morning, and Brasov at noon. To follow the convoy on social media, check the #MarsulCavaleriei hashtag.
In total, 1,500 American, Canadian, British and American troops will take part in the Sarmis 15 international drill.
