CBRE Romania becomes project and cost manager for Bucharest aparthotel Starlight’s conversion into offices

06 June 2013

Real estate consultancy CBRE Romania, the local office of CRBE Group, was recently appointed Project & Cost Manager for the conversion of Starlight Suites Hotel in Bucharest into offices, reads a statement of the company.

“The conversion process involves the replacement and reconfiguration of the air conditioning and ventilation systems and the electrical and plumbing installations. The building will also have new security and fire prevention systems,” said Razvan Iorgu, general manager of CBRE Romania.

The conversion process is to be completed in November this year. The building will have a gross leasable area of around 4,500 sqm on six floors plus mezzanine.

Starlight Suites Hotel is located in the Metropolis complex in Bucharest, which was opened 2009, when the hotel chain invested EUR 8 million in opening the Bucharest unit. The aparthotel had 78-rooms and shared the building with offices and a retail area. The decision to expand the office area cites economic motives.

Metropolis Center hosts the headquarters of several companies in Romania, such as Reckitt Benckiser, which occupies some 1,000 sqm, DLA Piper, EBRD and Citroen, among others. The multifunctional project Metropolis, opened on the site of a former printing house whose facade was kept in the design, covers some 27,800 sqm, out of which 11,000 for offices on seven floors. The rest is shared between the retail galleria at the ground floor, the Loft restaurant and the Starlight aparthotel.
