Cement producer Holcim reported sales 10.2 percent higher in the first half of 2011 in Romania on the same period of 2010. The group companies in Romania, Russia, Argentina, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia in particular positively influenced the results, according to the company.

The group’s cement sales in Europe also increased by 6.5 percent in the first half of this year, to 12.8 million tonnes, from a level of 12 million tonnes reported in the first six months of 2010, while the group’s total cement sales reached a level of 70.9 million tonnes in January-June this year, up  4.7 percent compared to the level of 67.8 million tonnes reported in the same period last year.

The company’s profit increased by 8 percent, while the net sales decreased by 7 percent. See Holcim’s full half-year 2011 results here.
