Central European Media Enterprises invests EUR 8 mln in HD news production
Central European Media Enterprises (CME), the U.S. group which owns Romanian media company PRO TV has invested more than EUR 8 million, so that PRO Tv, Acasa Tv and Sport.ro can broadcast in high definition, said Claudiu Paraschiv, head of TV technology at CME.
The investments began since 2006, after the television station's management decided in 2005 that all equipment that would be replaced to be HD. Currently, approximately 70 percent of Pro TV, Acasa TV and Sport.ro's programs are available in HD.
Pro TV company, owned by CME, controls six television stations on the Romanian market: Pro TV, Pro TV International, Acasa TV, Pro Cinema, Sport.ro and MTV Romania. The company reported a turnover of USD 34.3 million in the first three months of this year, down 6 percent compared to the same period of last year.
