The Romanian Chamber of Deputies approved the law project which enables the inclusion of bonuses into the base salary for certain categories of state employees. The lack of these bonuses was the main reason which triggered protests at the Finance Ministry last week and the Finance Minister promised protesters they would get the bonuses for the summer.

The Finance Ministry was the only ministry where the bonuses had not been included in the base salary. If the law gets the final vote in the Parliament, Finance Ministry employees will get a boosted base salary, which will include the bonuses. Bonuses amount up to 1.5 times the base salary.
