The Romanian Government will cap the child raising allowance to EUR 1,800 per month, said Romanian labor minister Lia Olguta Vasilescu.

The Government will issue an emergency ordinance about this in two weeks. Vasilescu explained that this cap corresponds to the maximum cap granted in Europe, for example in Germany, namely EUR 1,800.

The labor minister has made several comments on capping the child raising allowance in the last months. Some of them were contradicted even by the Social Democratic leader Liviu Dragnea. At the end of May, she said that the child raising allowance would be capped in July.
