Chinese manufacturer Huawei to invest EUR 200 mln in Romania by 2014

Chinese telecom equipment producer Huawei wants to invest EUR 200 million in Romania by 2014, according to the company’s investment plans presented to the Romanian Minister of Economy, Ion Ariton. The Chinese company’s main projects are opening the Huawei European Design Center in Pipera area in the capital city in February 2012, and a national optic fiber networking in Romania, in collaboration with Transelectrica SA.

Founded in 1987, Huawei Technologies is one of the largest providers of IT&C solutions worldwide, with revenues exceeding USD 28 billion in 2010. The company is present in over 140 countries.

Huawei entered the Romanian market in 2004. Huawei Romania posted a turnover of EUR 69.2 million last year, with 140 percent more than the previous year.
