Cirque du Soleil's Alegria coming to Romania

12 December 2012

Cirque du Soleil's show Alegria is coming to Bucharest, between September 5 and 8, 2013. The performances of the spectacular Cirque de Soleil production will be at Romexpo.

Music, flawless choreography, lavish costumes, gymnastic feats and jaw dropping acrobatics all play their part in the matchless spectacle that is Cirque du Soleil. In Alegria, which means joy or happiness in Spanish, Cirque du Soleil's performers tell the story of power through the ages from monarchies to democracies, peopling the tale with Kings and Queens, aristocrats and children, and, of course, clowns and acrobats. The show features 55 performers and musicians from 15 countries.

Among the routines in Alegria are Trapez Sincron and Barele Aeriene, in which the acrobats swing 16 meters above the stage, impossible feats of balance and flexibility by Mongolian contortionists and jugglers performing the Fire Knife Dance, which, as the name suggests, includes the lethal sounding combination of flames and knives and is described by Cirque du Soleil as "dangerously seductive."

Starting from a group of 20 street performers at its beginnings in 1984, Cirque du Soleil is now a major organization based in Quebec that performs spectacular shows around the world. The company has 5,000 employees, including more than 1,300 performers from about 50 different countries.

Tickets are available from December 13 at Orange shops, online at www.cirquedusoleil.com and www.eventim.ro. Until January 12, 2013, Orange customers can purchase tickets in Orange Shops with a 10 percent discount on all categories, except VIP.
