City Grill plans to open 25 BackWerk bakeries by 2015
The first BackWerk bakery shop will open in June this year in Universitate area of Bucharest, following an investment of EUR 150,000 made by Trotter Consulting, a company in the City Grill group. The company owns the BackWerk master franchise for Romania. Two more bakeries under this brand will be opened by the end of the year in Bucharest. The company plans to reach a network of 25 BackWerk bakeries in Romania by 2015, all through franchise. The franchise contracts have an initial time line of 5 years and the initial investment stays between EUR 100,000 and EUR 150,000. At the same time, the company will open stores under its management and ownership.
The BackWerk bakeries bring 30 percent lower prices and a self-service system for bread products, pastry, sandwiches, snacks and confectionery.
Trotter Consulting is owned by Romanian businessman Dragos Petrescu. The City Grill group posted RON 57 million in turnover in 2009 (around EUUR 13 million), up on the previous year, The group owns 13 restaurants and coffee shops in Romania – City Grill, City Cafe, Buongiorno, Caru cu Bere, Hanu' Berarilor, BundeTot and Cantina - and employs 600 staff.
