City Hall of Romania’s Sibiu attracts EUR 132 mln EU funding

The Sibiu Municipality in Central Romania has attracted structural funds of some EUR 132 million, financing works on water supply and sewage, on roads, on schools and a hospital, said Mayor Klaus Iohannis, quoted by local Mediafax.

He added that the number of completed projects is “relatively low”, and the deadline for the six ongoing projects is end-2015.

According to data from City Hall representatives, quoted by Mediafax, the six ongoing projects have a total value of RON 545.1 million (some EUR 126 million). The projects include expanding and revamping water and wastewater systems in Sibiu and Brasov counties, the construction of a Centre of Research and Telemedicine for children neurological diseases, within the Sibiu Paediatric Hospital, and the modernization and rehabilitation of several streets.
