Code Yellow for snow and blizzards issued for Romania on the weekend
Romania's Meteorological Association has issued a code yellow warning for snow and blizzards across the country over the weekend. The warning comes into effect on Friday morning (March 22 ) and continues until Saturday morning.
Snow is predicted in Central, Western and Northern Romania, while in the South and East, rain and sleet is expected. Temperatures are set to fall over the weekend, bringing frosts to many areas. Ahead of the snowfall, rain is expected to start falling on Thursday. This will soon turn to snow, particularly on higher ground and in the central/western/northern parts of the country.
The Meteorological Association also expects strong winds across the country, upwards of 50 km/h and reaching speeds of over 90 km/h in mountainous areas.
