Coface keeps Romania’s country rating at B

04 February 2016

Coface has maintained the B rating for Romania's country risk.

This risk category indicates an unstable microeconomic environment, capable of affecting the companies’ payment history.

Despite the macroeconomic balance, Romania remains vulnerable due to internal structural imbalances at the microeconomic level, reads the document. The causes of these imbalances are the high level of commercial loans, the high interdependence between the companies, and the accelerated interruption of business for many companies.

Romania’s strong points are the relatively big internal market, qualified and cheap labor force, significant foreign exchange reserves, and relatively stable local currency against the euro.
