Colectiv Club tragedy makes new victim, death toll reaches 32
A young woman died on Tuesday morning, November 3, at St. Pantelimon hospital in Bucharest, due to the serious injuries suffered during the recent fire at Colectiv Club. The woman, aged 28, had burns on about 50% of her body.
The death toll reached 32. Moreover, some other 130 people are still hospitalized in several Bucharest hospitals, over 50 of them being in critical condition.
According to the official investigation carried out by prosecutors, the fire in Bucharest’s Colectiv Club took place because there were too many people in the club, high above the place’s permissible limit, but also because a firework was lighted in a place whose interior design was inadequate for such activities.
Prosecutors detained club owners Alin Anastasescu, Paul Gancea and Costin Mincu on Monday evening, November 2, charging them with manslaughter and involuntary bodily injuries.
One of the oldest clubs in Bucharest closes down after Colectiv tragedy.
