Four Romanian companies investigated for rigged tenders in energy sector
Romania’s Competition Council has started a probe into the possible rigging of two public tenders organized by state-owned power grid operator Transelectrica.
The two contracts were for the revamping of two power transformer stations and were allotted in 2016. One of the contracts had a value of EUR 32 million, without VAT, and the other was EUR 5.5 million.
Local companies ELM Electromontaj Cluj, Energobit, SMART and Energotech are being investigated for possible a possible deal on splitting these contracts. SMART is a subsidiary of Transelectrica, while the other three are private companies.
