Competition Council will analyze how Romanian companies are treated in Europe

06 June 2018

Romania’s Competition Council will make an analysis on how Romanian companies are treated in Europe and the report will then be discussed with the European Commissioner for Competition, finance minister Eugen Teodorovici said on Tuesday, June 5.

He explained that the recently modified law on the functioning of the Competition Council provides that the institution will have a new department which will analyze how Romanian companies are treated in each member state.

“There are many economic sectors in which our companies are treated with the utmost contempt,” Teodorovici said, cited by local Agerpres.

He gave the example of Romanian transporters, who get a rough treatment in Western European countries such as Belgium.

The new Competition Council department will make two reports each year, which will be presented to the Government and Parliament.
