Competition on Romania's energy supply market gets tougher

20 July 2016

Italian energy group Enel has come up with a more competitive price offer for the sale of energy for household consumers in Romania, after its local competitor RCS&RDS, which is mainly active in telecom, gained significant market share with an aggressive price policy.

Enel has announced a better offer for the household consumers that want to get electricity on the free market system, and not at state-regulated tariff, reports local Economica.net. At an average consumption of 125 kWh per month, the bill is RON 60.85 (EUR 13.4), including VAT, namely 20% lower than the one paid by the customers who remain in the regulated system. The bill doesn’t include TV and radio fees.

RCS &RDS customers would pay RON 61.02 per month at an average consumption of 125 kWh per month.

Household consumers in Romania are allowed to change their electricity provider, or can choose the same provider, but with the option to get the energy on the free market, and not at regulated price.
