Conflict of interest change in Romania's Criminal Code reaches final decision
The amendment to the Criminal Code which removes some conflicts of interest could seriously affect the fight against corruption, according to the National Anticorruption Directorate DNA, reports local Hotnews.ro.
A group of five MPs introduced a draft project which amends an article from the Criminal Code, which would allow public officials to hire family members in parliamentary cabinets. The Senate has voted the draft law, which reached the Chamber of Deputies.
President Klaus Iohannis warned the MPs that if they adopt the amendment, he will send the law back to the Parliament for reexamination or will notify the Constitutional Court, reports local Mediafax.
The Legal Committee within the Chamber of Deputies analyzed on May 26 the draft law, but didn’t reject it.
