Consolidation on US cable market: Time Warner Cable buys Insight Communications

Time Warner Cable, a spin-off from giant media company Time Warner has offered USD 3 billion to buy US company Insight Communications from Carlyle Group. The buyer is the second largest cable operator in US, while the seller comes ninth on the list, according to international media.

The deal may generate annual cost savings of USD 100 million within two years, according to Time Warner Cable's recent statement. Insight serves more than 750,000 customers in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.
