The construction works volume index increased by 7.7% in February compared to the same month last year (YoY) and by 8.4% YoY in the January-February period, according to data from the statistics office INS.

The residential building sector remains the main driver, with a 26% YoY advance in February and 31% YoY for the entire January-February period.

The non-residential buildings sector posted a decent 8.7% advance in February (+14.3% in January-February), but the civil engineering segment lags behind with negative performances (-3.5% YoY and 0-7.3% YoY, respectively).

When it comes to the type of projects, the construction works on new projects advanced by only 3.8% YoY in February (+5.1% YoY in January-February).

The maintenance and capital repair works dominate the market with annual growth rates of 16%-17% YoY in February.
