Construction work, up by 10.4% last year in Romania
The volume of construction work in Romania increased by 10.4% last year compared to 2015, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The growth was determined by a higher volume of engineering work (up by 20%) and a 1.1% increase in the non-residential building segment. Meanwhile, the residential building segment dropped by 5.8%.
When it comes to the types of work, the capital repairs went up by almost a third (31.8%) whereas the maintenance and current repair work rose by 11.3% and the new constructions increased by 5.2% year-on-year.
In December, the volume of construction work increased by 28.4% compared to November. The growth was based on a higher volume of engineering work (up 30.6%), as well as an increase in the work on residential buildings (14.1%) and non-residential buildings (27.8%).
