Construction works down in Romania in first half of 2011
The volume of construction works in Romania decreased in the first half by 5 percent in unadjusted series, and by 4.7 percent as adjusted series compared to the same period last year, based on the number of working days and seasonality, according to the Romanian National Statistics Institute (INS).
The construction works of non-residential buildings increased by 12.8 percent, while the residential and engineering construction decreased by 42.3 percent, and 5.7 percent respectivelly.
In June, the volume of construction works increased by 27.3 percent compared to the previous month, as raw series, while in adjusted series for the number of working days and seasonally, the volume decreased by 1.3 percent. The maintenance and current repairs rose by 46.1 percent, while the new construction went up by 30 percent, and the repairs fall with 7.7 percent.
