A segment of the recently-inaugurated highway section between Timisoara and Lugoj already needs some fixing. The Italian construction companies that built it have started to replace the asphalt layer on a few hundred meters.

“The consultant has asked for repairs in several points on the highway, after discovering some faults,” said representatives of the regional roads administration, cited by local Economica.net.

They also said that it was good that the faults have been found within the 4-year guarantee period so that the constructor has to cover the repair costs.

That section of the Timisoara-Lugoj highway was inaugurated at the end of last year. It is 25.6 kilometers long and was built by a consortium made of Italian firms Tirrena Scavi and Societa Italiana per Condotte D'Acqua. The cost was EUR 94.7 million without VAT.
