Continental’s R&D center in Sibiu reaches 1,000 engineers
Car component producer Continental’s research and development center in Sibiu has reached 1,000 engineers. In total, the company has 3,800 employees in its production unit and engineering center in Sibiu.
The German group has invested over EUR 320 million since 2004 in the Sibiu R&D center. Continental develops, tests and produces braking systems, electronic control units for automatic gearboxes or pneumatic suspensions in Sibiu, said Liviu Balan, who coordinates the R&D center in Sibiu.
In the next years, Continental will construct a new building for the R&D activity in Sibiu. The team will also grow by 1,000 engineers in the future.
Continental has seven production units and four research and development centers in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei, Nadab, Brasov and Iasi. The group is also a partner of a joint venture in Slatina and has a tire distribution center in Bucharest.
The company had 18,200 employees in Romania at the end of 2016 and will increase its team with some 1,500 in Romania this year.
