Continental Sibiu, a subsidiary of the car industry supplier Continental Corporation, has opened a new building for the company's research and development (R&D) activities, following an investment worth EUR 6.5 million.

The two-storey building has a 7,000 sqm area, which include laboratories stretching over 1,000 sqm and office space for 400 engineers.

Work began in March 2014 and was completed in October the same year.

"We have been able to grow with over 1,000 people annually in the last years. We've increased our R&D activities in Romania, so that the number of employees increased to about 4,000 in our Iasi, Sibiu and Timisoara locations, which play an important role in the Continental's R&D global structure, "said Christian von Albrichsfeld, R&D director with Continental Romania, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.
