Continental Tires Timisoara, subsidiary of automotive group Continental Corporation invested over EUR 220 million in tire production in Romania over the last 10 years, according to the company. Overall, Continental had invested over EUR 400 million in its Romanian operations until late 2009.

The number of tires produced by Continental Tires Timisoara amounted to 100 million. The production volume increased gradually from 1.2 million tires in 2001, to 14 million tires in 2010. “After 10 years and more than EUR 220 million, we reached a milestone of 100 million tires”, said Pedro Carreira, general manager of Continental Tires Timisoara.

The Continental tire plant in Timisoara, founded in 1998, began the series production in 2000. Continental has eight production units and three research and development centers in the Romania, in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei, Arad and Iasi, a joint venture in Slatina and a tire distribution center for Eastern Europe in Sacalaz. The group has around 10,000 employees in Romania.
