Number of new COVID-19 cases in Romania drops under 1,000 for the first time after 12 days
Romania recorded 823 coronavirus cases out of the 8,045 tests carried out in the last 24 hours. This brings the total to 54,009 coronavirus cases on Monday, August 3, the authorities announced in the daily report released at 13:00. It's for the first time in almost two weeks that the daily number of new infections reported by the authorities drops under 1,000.
Separately, 302 patients who were retested still had the Covid-19 infection.
Of the total cases, 27,750 patients recovered, while 4,807 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis.
At the same time, 19 coronavirus patients died in the past 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 2,432 since the start of the pandemic.
Of those who passed away in the last 24 hours, one was aged between 30 and 39, two were aged between 40 and 49, two between 50 and 59, two between 60 and 69, five between 70 and 79, and seven were older than 80. All of them had previous medical conditions.
The number of patients admitted to intensive care units went up to 419 from 412 the day before. Overall, 7,660 coronavirus patients were admitted to hospitals in the country.
At a national level, 1,248,318 tests were performed by August 3. Of these, 8,045 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours, 2,399 on request.
Throughout Romania, 5,143 people who tested positive for the Covid-19 infection were isolating at home, while 4,538 people were under institutionalized isolation. Furthermore, 17,675 people were under quarantine at home, and 179 were under institutionalized quarantine.
