Romania’s daily coronavirus cases near 1,000 threshold, new single-day record reported

Romania recorded 994 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the total to 39,133 on Tuesday, July 21, the authorities announced in the daily report released at 13:00.

It is the highest number of daily cases reported since the start of the pandemic.

Of the total cases, 25,586 patients have been discharged so far: 24,454 patients have recovered, while 2,612 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis.

Furthermore, 1,087 patients who tested positive for the Covid-19 infection were discharged on request by July 21.

At the same time, 36 coronavirus patients died in the past 24 hours, the highest daily number since the start of the pandemic, bringing the death toll to 2,074.

Of those who passed away, three were aged between 40 and 49, nine between 50 and 59, nine between 60 and 69, nine were aged between 70 and 79, and six were over 80 years old. Thirty-five of them had previous medical conditions.

The number of patients admitted to intensive care units went up to 297, from 293 the day before.

At a national level, 984,396 tests were carried out so far.
