Coronavirus in Romania: 733 new cases confirmed in 24 hours

Romanian officials reported 733 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 71,194 on Monday, August 17, according to the official daily report

Separately from the new cases, 223 patients retested positive for the COVID-19 infection.

More than 1.52 million tests were performed in Romania so far, of which 6,390 in the last 24 hours. 

A total of 32,759 patients were declared cured so far, and 8,072 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis.  

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 3,029. A total of 38 deaths were reported between August 16 (10:00) and August 17 (10:00), in the age categories of 40-49 years (3 deaths), 50-59 years (4 deaths), 60-69 years (10 deaths), and 70-79 years (12 deaths), and 80+ years (9 deaths). Thirty-six of the patients had previous medical conditions.  

The number of COVID-19 patients treated in intensive care units was 497 on Monday, August 17. In total, 7,472 coronavirus patients are hospitalized.  

The same report announced that 9,604 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated at home, and 5,509 are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 26,442 people are under quarantine at home, and 192 are in institutionalized quarantine.
