Romanians will most likely spend around EUR 960 million on personal care and beauty products in 2011, up 3 percent on last year, according to a study issued by Euromonitor. The most sought after products last year were mass cosmetics, which made 80 percent of the sales. The segment is expected to generate the bulk of the sales this year too, while bringing an increase of 2.8 percent compared to 2010.

The baby care products will post the biggest increase among all this market's segments, up 4.7 percent, to around EUR 8.8 million. Premium cosmetics should go up by 4.3 percent and reach EUR 70 million this year.

The perfumes segment will reach sales of EUR 196 million, an increase of 2 percent on last year, while skincare products will generate sales of EUR 196 million, up 3.1 percent on last year. The beauty care and cosmetics products for men will bring a sales figure of EUR 63.7 million in Romania this year, a growth of 2.2 percent on 2010.
