Cosmote triples roaming traffic during the summer
Telecom company Cosmote Romania's roaming voice traffic tripled during the period May – August 2010 compared to the same period of last year, while the data traffic grew five-fold during the same period, the company has announced. Cosmote users traveled to Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Greece and Spain. The boost in traffic was mainly due to the Roaming Traveler option, which allowed post paid customers to use the national minutes included in the subscription for roaming calls from EU countries.
The company has also decreased the roaming tariffs by 10 percent for calls from EU countries and by 22 percent for calls received in EU countries.
Cosmote Romania had 6.7 million clients on June 30 this year. The company was launched in 2005 in Romania and is owned by Greek OTE.
