Romanian courier company Urgent Cargus invests EUR 2 mln in technology

16 May 2016

Courier company Urgent Cargus, one of the tot three payers on the parcel delivery market, has invested EUR 2 million in IT equipment to improve its services and deliveries.

The company has bought 1,500 scanners with photo capture capabilities, which will allow couriers to take photos of all delivery confirmation and send them to the expeditors in real time. Thus, clients who send parcels will be informed as soon as the delivery has been made.

The couriers have also been given mobile printers to print transport documents, invoices, and receipts on the spot, which will reduce potential errors. Moreover, the company has invested in new scanners for a pilot project in Bucharest that allows payment by card.

Urgent Cargus will also buy 2,000 tablets for its vehicles, which will run the Waze traffic management app, so that the couriers will lose less time in traffic.

The courier company is controlled by private equity fund Abris Capital. It has a network of 72 centers and deposits, 2,600 cars, and over 2,900 employees and collaborators.

The company’s turnover reached EUR 76.8 million, in 2015, up by 10% compared to 2014.
