COVID-19 in Romania: Vaccination to be moved from dedicated centres to family doctors
The COVID-19 vaccination centres will no longer operate in Romania as of July 1, according to Andrei Baciu, the coordinator of the COVID vaccination committee (CNCAV). Instead, vaccine distribution will be moved exclusively to family doctor practices.
"The new COVID-19 vaccination policy will come into force on July 1: vaccination only at family doctors," Baciu announced on Facebook.
Until June 30, all those who want to receive a COVID vaccine (dose 1, 2 or 3) can do so both at the vaccination points that are still operating and at the family doctors' offices.
"From July 1, all vaccination points will cease to operate, and vaccine doses will be administered exclusively by family physicians," Andrei Baciu explained.
Many COVID-19 vaccination centres have already closed in Romania against the low interest in vaccination. Only 9,635 people received a vaccine in the week of April 11-17, and 1,148 of them got their first dose. In total, about 8.1 million people were fully vaccinated against COVID, and almost 2.6 million also received the booster dose.
