Cranking up the overdrive for wall to wall rock at Bucharest's OST Fest this week-end
Bucharest can look forward to a rock-tacular weekend from Friday to Sunday (June15 to 17) during the OST Fest at Romexpo. Bands such as Overkill, Lake of Tears, W.A.S.P., Motorhead, Motley Crue, HollyHell, Europe and Dimmu Borgir will all be on stage.
Dimmu Borgir, one of the most popular metal acts in Romania, were founded in 1993 by Shagrath, Silenoz and Tjodalv in Oslo (Norway). They launched their debut album “For All Tid” in 1994 and continued with other albums like “Enthrone Darkness Triumphant” and the first album recorded in English in 2003 with the name “Death Cult Armageddon”.
Overkill are a thrash metal band formed in 1980 in New Jersey, with an impressive career of over 30 years. The band started in 1987, and launched the album "Taking Over" in the same year. The OST Fest is part of the tour for the new launch album called “The Electric Age”. Another band that will be performing are Lake of Tears, a Swedish goth and doom metal group with psychedelic rock influences. The festival will be their fourth appearance in Romania. The band formed in 1990, with the first album in 1994, called “Greater Art” and continued with “A Crimson Cosmos”, “Headstones” and “Forever Autumn”.
W.A.S.P., an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 had their first album “W.A.S.P.” in 1984, followed a year later by “The Last Command.” Their most recent album “Babylon” launched in November 2009.
Glam metal Motley Crue (in picture), will be performing for the first time in Romania on the 15th June. Loved and hated in almost equal measures they have so far sold over 80 million albums worldwide. Following numerous scandals for drug and alcohol abuse Motley Crue split back in 1988, when all the band members went into rehab programs. Motley Crue have since returned with two albums, “Dr. Feelgood” and “Motley Crue”. The last, launched in 1994, represented the band's biggest commercial success.
The story of “Europe” begins in 1979, when Swedish rock band “Force” started in Upplands Vasby, later they changed their name to Europe and became known across the world in 1986 for their hit song “The Final Countdown” and their album of the same name, which sold over 3 million copies in the United States. Fans will get the chance to listen to songs from their latest album "Bag of Bones" at the festival.
New York based Rock/Metal/Gothic band HolyHell have been going since 2005 and earned critical acclaim for their debut album HOLYHELL( 2009 ). HolyHell are now working on their second full length album, set for release this summer.
Motorhead's Lemmy is a living rock legend and is still going after 36 years of heavy metal. Since 1975, the band have managed to sell over 50 millions albums worldwide. With releases like “ Overkill”, “Bomber”, “Ace of Spades” and “No Sleep ‘Till Hammersmith.” Motorhead's rock veterans have retained a loyal following around the world.
The tickets cost from RON 90 basic to RON 500 for VIP per day, and weekend tickets are going for RON 150 to RON 800 for VIP passes.
