Romanian carmaker Dacia produces EUR 1 bln worth of cars in Jan-Feb

13 March 2019

French group Renault’s Romanian subsidiary Dacia produced EUR 1 billion worth of cars in the first two months of 2019, focusing on the best-selling mini-SUV model Dacia Duster, Ziarul Financiar announced.

The production of the Dacia plant in Mioveni climbed 14.4% in the first two months of this year, to a total of almost 65,000 cars, according to data from the Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM). Taking into account an average price of over EUR 15,000 plus VAT, Dacia's production in the first two months is worth about EUR 1 billion.

Four out of five cars produced at the Mioveni factory in the first two months were Duster model, as the production of the second best-selling small SUV on the European market has steadily increased. The output of the Duster SUV has climbed by more than 40% year-on-year, in the first two months, to over 50,000 units.

The second model by the number of units produced was Sandero, with nearly 6,200 cars (down by a third year-on-year), followed by low-cost model Logan with 5,400 cars, at the same level as in 2018, and Logan MCV with 3,000 cars, less than half compared to last year.
