08 July 2010

Car maker Dacia sold 19,200 cars in Romania in the first half of this year, which has triggered a market share of 33.5 percent, the company has announced. Its market share went up by 3.5 percentage points compared to last year. The biggest export destinations for Dacia were France, with 64,000 units, Germany, with 17,000 and Italy, with 13,700.

Overall, Dacia sold 182,800 cars during this period, which was up 18.2 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The car market expects to see a setback in car sales due to the VAT increase. “We expect a drop by 10,000 – 15,000 units by the end of the year because of the VAR increase from July 1st,” said Fabrice Cambolive, commercial director for Dacia (in picture).
